In the guide Method 1 is for READYNAS to READYNAS backups, Method 2 is for READYNAS to LINUX backups.
Most likely you will Follow Method 1 – Note that when your setting up the Backup job options on the Source NAS, it asks for a username and password to use for authenticating RSYNC with the remote NAS, on the guide it says to use Username: root and password is just left blank – HOWEVER – make sure the username and password is blank. Why do we need blank there? because on the destination NAS when setting up the RSYNC options on the destination share you do not put a user and password – Rsync doesnt authenticate with the regular user database of NAS and uses its own local type of database.
